Eyes of an Innocent

Unaware of what lies ahead,
we choose what we perceive
to be the better of both worlds.
As compared to adulthood,
children have the unfair advantage...
or so they claim.
And thus we reach into the unknown,
the world of reality,
of independence,
of responsibility,
of pressure,
of failure.
Never to return to ignorant lives.
No longer
the eyes of an innocent.
